An international weekend

Date Added: 02/20/2013
Well... The most precise of you, maybe, will have realized it... Last week we didn't manage to update our blog, as we're used to doing, with our various news... However, we had quite a convincing - more than quite, actually! - reason... Better said: two very strong reasons!

And both of them were far away from Cenina

Getting ready, booking our flights and reserving our hotels, scheduling a number of meetings with our most important suppliers and the most beloved designers... This is what we did last week, on the occasion of two international exhibitions that we could not miss as visitors: the well known Aiguille en Fête in Paris and the as renowned Craft Hobby+ Stitch in Birmingham.

So, from Casa Cenina, we split on the Old Continent and our Ilaria - a truly Tuscan, temporarily living, working and studying in the so-called Ville Lumiere - visited the French exhibition, fully dedicated to embroidery and needlework and their latest trends that - as we all know - make this industry among the most proactive in France; while three of us landed in the UK, to discover (it was our first time in Birmingham), this trade fair for crafts.

Talking of needlecraft, straight from the Aiguille en Fête a whole lot of news! First, a number or brand new volumes (rich in cross stitch projects, to get ready for the typical Spring mirth!) from the best-known designers. For Le Temps Apprivoisé Marie-Thérèse Saint Aubin has just published Voyages au point de croix and for Marabout her delicate Pensées et violettes au point de croix. A whole gallery full of her wonderful creations celebrated sweet Marie-Thérèse's art and flair, in the most important show for embroidery and needlework! Les Editions de Saxe launched the new projects signed by Isabelle Vautier and Renato Parolin. They're going on celebrating their friendship in their two books, Dis moi OUI… au point de croix that Isabelle has created for weddings and Fêtes & anniversaires au point de croix by Renato.

Some great models are also those born from the cooperation between Marie Suarez and Sajou. We're going to tell you all about them in one of our next posts... But, for now, take a look here. Marie also showcased her brand new book, created together with Corinne Rigadeau, from Tralala. Trésors de Brodeuses is a real, small jewel, if you love mixing stitching and quilting!

And we cannot definitely forget the marvellous kits from Les Brodeuses Parisiennes, elegant, refined and chic, just like their brand new polka dots Paris range. Definitely not to be missed!

However, let us say so, what surprised and delighted us most was the exquisite homage we received from Marie-Thérèse Saint-Aubin, who placed - right at the entrance of her booth - the stitched project designed for Arezzo, after joining our "Festa del Ricamo": thank you, dearest Marie-Thérèse, for all the emotions you can always give use, whenever you make something!

The Craft+Hobby and Stitch International in Birmingham was certainly as surprising, both for the variety of its selection and for the presence of a whole lot of exhibitors, including several from the USA Among the new products that have immediately drawn our attention - and that we count to upload as soon as possible in our online store - there are certainly many dies from Sizzix even enabling you to create extremely particular and very nice, 100% personal party favors; paper for all tastes, perfect, of course, to be used with your Sizzix, but as ideal to customize little pieces of furniture, frames for your stitched models, boxes and anything else, with just a little glue and attention ; a brand new and colorful system to stock all your notions, charts, needles and fabrics, that will certainly conquer your husbands and partners, too, for their screws, nuts and bolts and tools ; the new knitting and crocheting yarns by DMC (available from June, actually, so there'll be some time to wait... But they're worth it, believe us!), as well as a number of amazing bags and organizers for all your craft projects, which are definitely impossible to resist... Also because some of them are so beautiful that it would be a pity to use them just to carry our craft stuff... You can simply use them like any other bag, or even as hand baggage for your overnights and weekends out!

We know... Now you're going to be unbearably "inquiring" ... Just a little patience and we're going to showcase all these hew products in our website... They're all already in order

A hug and... Talk to you soon!
