Dear Friends,
with the beginning of summer and with this hot weather, we have decided to relax a bit with the products coming directly from one of the coolest and rainy countries of Europe: Great Britain. So, our thread section is now enriched with a new brand. It's the Appleton Bros., famous all over the world for its wool threads used also by the artist William Morris in his rugs. Appleton wools, in 421 shades and sold in about 25 gr. skeins, have been produced in England for more than 150 years and they are especially used for canvas, cushions, curtains and home decorations. In order to get a general idea about Appleton shades, you can have a look at the complete and practical Shade Card with 4cm. samplings organized and divided according to the type of color.
With only one glance you will be able to compare the different shades and then decide which colors are best for your project.
Appleton wools are already included (so you do not have to buy them separately) in the wonderful kits by Beth Russell: cushions, rugs, tents etc.
Why don't you spend some of your summer time in a British Style project?

Complimenti per la scelta! Ho già utilizzato questa lana (ho dovuto acquistarla da un sito inglese), è leggermente più sottile rispetto alla Colbert e va benissimo anche per lavorare a punto croce sul canovaccio tipo Penelope 40 fori.
Magari riuscirete ad avere anche la Crewel, sempre della Appleton?

Le lane Appleton sono tra le più richieste in effetti :-)
Per questo contiamo di inserire quanto prima in catalogo anche la Crewel e gli "hanks" (i matassoni per fare i tappeti). Abbiamo preferito iniziare con i "tapestry" perché sono quelli maggiormente utilizzati.

Le lane Appleton sono filati molto resistenti perchè sfilacciano pochissimo e hanno delle bellissime sfumature, con un'ampia gamma di colori.
Avete esaudito un mio desiderio! Grazie! Reperire le lane Appleton in Italia è molto difficile, Voi ci siete riusciti.

Che meraviglia ma grazieeee!!!! Così non dovrò fare altri ordini oltremanica... Quando faccio un tappeto normalmente uso il punto croce così non si deforma il canovaccio, lavorando su canovaccio interlock da 7-8 buchi per cm della Zweigart. Le lane Appleton sono meravigliose per fare oggetti come i tappeti perchè sono un pochino più ruvidine della laine Colbert, non fanno peli, sono più resistenti e moooolto più economiche, soprattutto nel formato hank. La lana Crewel è ottima anche per il ricamo libero, spesso ne ho visto degli esempi in UK dove ne hanno un vero culto ;)
Comunque davvero grazie, perchè in Italia era un vero problema trovarle.
