The German Taste For Cross-Stitching
Hello everybody! I do not know exactly why, but when we think about Germany, its language and population, we think- generally speaking- of something though, not flexible and a bit cold! For sure, some of these prejudices are widespread: the commonplace is that Germans are all precise and organized and that German is certainly a language with a rough sound... Maybe because, on average, in a 10 letter word, 8 are consonants and 2 vowels... Who Knows?!

However, the German romantic poems -I guarantee it for you- are really touching and melodical and Germans -God blesses them!- are often undisciplined and not so organized: for example, all the Germans I know love Italy and staying in our country on holiday just because they can find in it that light spirit and "chaos" they are looking for

There is also a German feature which is important to consider: the taste!
Yes, that taste cross-stitchers think is only French and they are now finding also in some famous and capable Italian designers like Renato Parolin.

Actually, in the last few months, at Casa Cenina we have focused on the new products from Germany and we have really appreciated them!

Starting from the linen strips by Vaupel &Heilenbeck:

Available in different lenghts, these strips are in very fine linen and their motifs seem to directly come from the fairy tales, just to make us dream a bit
But, in order to embroider these pieces of fabric -and not only, of course- what strikes us the most is the wide offer of German books, rich in simple motifs, but which are very elegant and delicate, capable of conquering also because the number of threads is not too big. Try and see! Some nice examples are in the little books by TF Stickdesign:

which go from the winter themes we love -like Christmas and its icons, Santa Claus and its nice snowmen- and that of spring like Easter, going through the usual Halloween decorations and a gift for the most romantic day of the year, Saint Valentine:

On the same notes of taste and lightness, why don't you take a look on the flowers of the books by Stickgalerie:

and on those which are splendid and simple in the German book "Florales":

and, if you don't want to miss anything, be fascinated by the nice motifs by Acufactum:

A lot of works for everybody and... don't be scared by German, because even if the book are in this language, the cross-stitching is a universal language and the images and the charts are very easy to follow!

A big Hugh and Happy Stitching!
