Quilt&Patchwork paddings
The
paddings and battings have arrived at Casa Cenina!
Actually in our catalog there were still some padding models for cushions and covers, but with the arrival of the new
Quilt&Patchwork fabrics we have decided that we had to give more importance to all that patchwork world which up to now was limited to the anglo-saxon market. So here are the new
Pellon and
Hobbs Bonded Fibers battings. These are all
premium quality materials which range from the more classic fibers like
cotton, wool and
silk to the
polyester, the
soy and even
bamboo.
Directly from the producers here are some pieces of advice about washing these cotton paddings:
You can wet the cotton padding before its use in order to avoid the natural shrinking by 2 - 5% which adds an antique aspect to the final work. Insert the padding in a pillow case. Put it in the washing machine and centrifuge it. Dry the stretched padding. The 80/20 paddings resist better to this procedure, then you can find the scrim ones since they undergo producing techniques which augment the pre-quilting resistance. It is better to execute all this carefully especially with the natural cottons like the 100% Natural by Pellon, the Tuscany Bleached and Unbleached. All cotton battings are in cotton and very resistant once quilted at a precise distance.
