Traveling with Palmyre
Les Grilles de PalmyreCasa Cenina welcomes a new Fench designer, Patricia Mathieu, cand her brand Les Grilles de Palmyre which is a newborn, since it has been established in 2011.

A real Far East lover (though she loves Eastern countries on the whole!), and fond of cross stitch, Patricia gets her inspiration mainly from traveling. And it is not by chance that she has chosen “Palmyre” as her pseudonym, for Palmyre is the name of a well-known, ancient town in Syria. And such Eastern echoes are quite evident in charts such as Ait Benadou, a sampler created after a trip to Southern Morocco, and Kokand, inspired by the chinaware from Rajasthan.

But European tradition is also widely depicted in Patricia’s works and most of all in those dedicated to Winter and Christmas, like this one Reine des neiges and this one, too Un cerf en hiver.

Patricia Mathieu mainly loves mixing different styles and creating ever-original projects, all anyway deep-rooted in traditional embroidery. So, her collection features Band Samplers with Eastern proverbs, or so-called blackworks turned into “blueworks”, i.e. to be stitched in blue, to pay tribute to the chinaware from Samarcanda or a pleasant proverb.

Straight from France, Les Grilles de Palmyre also keeps the typical taste and technical elegance of French embroidery unaltered.
