Symmetrical charts by Turquoise Graphics & Design
Turquoise Graphics & DesignGunay Uyan has learnt to knit and crochet, sew and embroider (all techniques, from needlepoint to cross-stitch) when she was very young. She could not read and write, but she could handle her needle better than a pen! She was a child when her mother made her appreciate the beauty of fabrics, by showing her the variety of colors and fibers thanks to her experience as a professional sewer. If the sewing machine was (obviously) off-limits for little Gunay, she was allowed instead to participate to the weekly tea-time with her mother's friends: an entire afternoon spent among embroidery and sewing projects with some cakes and biscuits in between

With a similar background, Gunay could not but be destined to become an embroidery designer and so in her teenage years she started making her first patterns for some crochet projects. Then, step by step, she has switched to cross-stitching until the '90s when she decided to fund her own brand, the Turquoise Graphics & Design. As the name itself suggests, an essential aspect of Gunay's work is linked to graphics, computers and web design. Technology allows this brand to be diffused all over the world, but the original and subjective aspect remains however in Gunay's designs which are especially inspired by history, art and architecture.

As this Venetian Lagoon demonstrates, there is always something old and antique in the patterns by Turquoise Graphics & Design: a design element or just a reference in the title. Symmetry is what Gunay loves the most, as it is demonstrated by her geometrical patterns and her mandala style charts/b>.

But the Turquoise Graphics & Design has also funnier and less serious charts like this summer dresses series, these elegant eggs or this witch's brew.

It goes without saying: Gunay is a complete artist!
