CaMa117115 : Saturday 14 October, 2023 Opus - craft stand
Opus - craft stand

I bought this a few years ago. I was so looking forward to using it. Mine arrived without the mechanism to turn the wing nuts with ease so a small wrench sits by. Then the part that grips the hoop is just not deep enough to properly hold the hoop, it swings down. Then I need to put a weight on the bottom floor stands so it does not topple over so easily. I have made several adjustments plus sewed a weight. Now it is more user friendly...

Staff: Hi and thanks for your kind review :-) This stand is still made by hand in the UK and it can therefore come with some imperfections. However, we remember you reported us the lack of the "gadget to tighten the wing nuts"... but referring to the Siesta Frame, not to this stand. And we emailed the UK producer to have them send you that missing piece.... in any case, we're glad to learn you managed to make your Opus Stand more user friendly now. Kindest regards.

Per non perdere il filo

Excellent publication, like all those from this publishing house, to always keep at hand. From simple "tricks" on how to stop threads to detailed instructions for making sheets, pillowcases, tablecloths, napkins, towels. All accompanied by suggestions for fabric measurements and maintenance advice. An investment, I consider it an excellent "Bignami" compared to the historic "Encyclopédie des ouvrages de Dames" by Thérèse de Dillmont, easy to consult and with countless illustrations that facilitate understanding...

Winter's Warmth

The picture and the listing are misleading. The design picture shows cloudy blue areas which I thought were part of the design that would have to be cross stitched. It turns out however the design is stitched on specially dyed "Summer Clouds" fabric, So the cloudy parts aren't stitched but dyed. This is not mentioned in the listing nor is that specially dyed fabric available. Casacenina offers an alternative (overall light blue dyed aida) but that is nowhere near the cloudy blue in the picture...

Magazine Création Point de Croix N°101

The magazine is a gold mine for those who love French style. Some disadvantages: for those who don't have perfect eyesight, the diagrams are a bit small and therefore need to be enlarged; some schemes (such as the alphabets) are not complete and must be ordered separately. This summer issue has some beautiful designs...
