Squirrel

Bought this kit as we have a local reservation of red squirrels. Unfortunately when completed neither the squirrel which was brown and the fungi was as the picture. A friend who purchased this kit many years ago (her chart is in 4 parts) is as the picture. Was extremely disappointed...

Staff: Hi, we\'re sorry for your disappointment, but Thea Gouverneur uses exclusively DMC threads in her kits and in the last years the European Union has forbidden many textile dyes used also by the manufacturers of threads, just like DMC, so many color shades had to be replaced and this can certainly have caused the difference that you\'ve found out (since you state that your friend purchased the kit many years ago). We always suggest, when you have so specific requests like this one (you needed a red squirrel) to ask, before purchasing the item, also because the colors of any picture can be very different from a computer to another (it depends from a series of element, such as the resolution of the different displays, for example). Thanks and kind regards.

Chalk sharpener

A disappointment, as soon as I opened the package I noticed the lack of care in making the sharpener: the two elements do not close perfectly and are finished in an approximate way (in some parts they seem rough-hewn with a cutter!). Even the rod that runs to empty the tank must be directed because otherwise it jams or falls inside. The idea is good but the execution not as good, I expected much more from a company with a history like Prym...

Magic Ball

As a partial correction of my previous comment... If you start from the upper part, not from the center, as suggested by the kit, and you are precise... The drawing fits in the free areas, that is perforated, but - in any case - the usefulness of "closed holes" is not understood, given that transparency cannot be exploited in any way. I started from the wrong place! For the rest, as I said, the design is nice, and I like the color a lot. However, I find it difficult to work it in 3 strands (I did it in 2) because the holes are small. And even with "only" 2 pieces it is full...

The needle in the kit is almost unusable, especially if you had to embroider with 3 threads, as indicated: the eye is very thin, just enough for 1 thread! The scheme must be embroidered on a plastic canvas, on which, however, some "holes" have not been punched, because they form a geometric design, which has nothing to do with it. This makes actual embroidery difficult, because there is no way to avoid these non-holes... But the pattern on the canvas is practically invisible, even with the glitter glittering on it. And then you have to apply the back, in white "felt", which completely removes the transparency... The design itself is very nice, but it is unnecessarily complicated by this "more" which is completely useless!..

Speciale Quadri - Ricami d'autore

I have to update the review by lowering the rating as the patterns, although beautiful, are in a single color sheet and with use the part of the squares along the folds gets damaged and it is difficult to distinguish the colours, and more importantly because there are no they are the symbols to distinguish the colors it often happens that with such large schemes with so many colors and so many shades that are very similar to each other it becomes very difficult to distinguish them so the embroidery is slow as you waste a lot of time figuring out the color to use. I bought other mani di fata magazines with the same characteristics but containing small patterns and with few colors let's say that the problem remained small...

Q-Snaps Frames 11"x11"

Hello, given that I am very happy with this frame, I would like some advice on bead embroidery: how do I hook the frame onto the fabric where there are also beads? I am very afraid that by pushing the hook they could be damaged or even broken. Is there something or a method to protect the fabric? (I hope I made myself clear). Thanks for the reply, Daniela...

Staff: Hi Daniela and thank you :-) You explained yourself very well, don't worry, and your question is definitely legitimate! The problem is that it is not advisable to embroider with beads using this hoop, because the embroidery beads are made of glass and the risk of the Q-Snap "clamps" shattering them when placed under them is very high. Generally, the beads are placed at the end (that is, after completing the embroidery), without using the hoop. An alternative, if you still want to use a frame even when applying the beads, are \"sliding\" frames, such as this one: https://www.casacenina.it/american-dream/individual-frame- 8-no-basting.html on which the fabric is fixed with Velcro or basting it on itself and then turning it over like papyrus, as the work progresses. In this case, the beads are protected by the fabric of the work which, turning over on itself, forms a certain thickness and therefore offers a certain protection. It must be said, however, that the tension of the fabric itself, as the beads are applied to it, is unfortunately not optimal. Our advice, therefore, is to apply the beads at the end of the embroidery, without using any frame. If you have any other doubts, please send us an email to: [email protected] Thank you and best regards.
