Beyond quilting: fabrics and bags from Ellen Medlock
Hi everybody there
This post – I’m telling you already – is expressly conceived to “make your mouths water”! Since I’m going to talk a little more extensively about a smiling American lady from Tulsa, Oklahoma, called
Ellen Medlock.
She’s an all-accomplished designer, member of the prestigious
CHA Designer Board of the powerful US Craft and Hobby Association (organizing the huge reference trade exhibition in the craft world in the USA, twice a year). In her career, Ellen has experienced many different sectors: she has worked as an illustrator, as well as a stylist of stationery items, to finally come to her “first love”: fabrics! And fabrics are exactly what she’s been focusing on more and more, for years now, with an evident, natural inclination to a precise “using area” of these fabrics of hers: i.e. bags
To get a clearer idea of Ellen’s masterly use and matching of colors, I just invite you to take a look to some of her fabrics immediately
We’ve just introduced them in our online store,
here. They are a real rainbow, aren’t they?!
However, if your eyes are a little confused, as it often happens, looking at such a “color explosion”… Well, then look carefully at the pictures of the bags you can create with these fabrics, since we’re going to add the patterns to sew them in short, in our website!!! And, once again, this is the evidence of the fact that these fabrics aren’t meant exclusively for quilting: in fact, they offer a wide range of craft possibilities
Whether for you, your mum, your dearest friend of someone you’d like to surprise… Or just if you want one more in your wardrobe, well… Bags are definitely the fashion accessory we can’t do without and we never have enough, do we?
These bags, easier to sew than you may think, come to you in the sign of the most colorful combinations: just figure them out with a plain-color outfit, with some black, brown, white or grey dress and, immediately, even the Winter will seem to be warmer!
We’ve pioneered the launch of many, highly creative and fanciful designers here in Europe and we’ve always been happy with being in the lead in this sense
But, once more, we’re sure these damasks – restyled following the wave of liveliness – these silhouettes of colorful butterflies, these stripes and polka dots matched in the most unusual shades, will conquer you again! And, since now, I just have a recommendation: don’t be afraid of combining them in the most “reckless” ways, for this is exactly how you’re going to have even more unique and incomparable creations!
Hear from me soon and… A hug
