Colours from Eastern Europe

Nina's Threads ©Hi everybody!

Hungary often comes up when speaking of traditional tzigane violins, the wonderful Danube river, which divides in two the equally wonderful capital Budapest - born from the union of the two ancient cities of Buda and Pest It's also famous for their music traditions, which inspired many composers such as Liszt and Bartok and - of course - we have to mention the many inventive people from Hungary who brought us genius creations such as the ballpoint pen, by Làszló Biró, and the worldwide known Rubik's cube, by Ernő Rubik!!

No wonder one of the most creative among hand dyed threads manufacturers comes from Eastern Europe!

Her threads carry her name: Nina's Threads, a rainbow of wonderfully coloured threads, which shine with the creativeness and care this artist dedicates to all her hand made creations, using particular textile cotton fibers and the best mercerized white cotton, for incredibly soft 8 meters long (about 8,74 yards) cotton threads.

As you can see for yourself following in the link above, Nina - or Ninocska, as her friends call her - has added very useful conversions to DMC threads, so that picking your own choice will be even easier: that's how witty and helpful Nina can be.. and you'll see this in everything she does, as a stitcher she perfectly understands the stitchers' needs!

About 80 shades, that will suit every stitching project, ideal for cross-stitch, as french designers at Jardin Privé already found out, as they choose Nina's threads for some of their charts: Coeur de Brodeuse, Patchwork Printemps, Patchwork Eté, Patchwork Hiver, Primitive Bouquet and Simple Life.

We're so happy to please all our customers who asked about Nina's cotton threads, and after chatting with her for a while, we can report you now how it all started

"When I began stitching about 12 years ago, I couldn't find hand dyed threads at all.. I'd known about their existence for 5 years already, but no shop in my area carried them, still I was so in love with these beautiful, intense colours and shades.. I've always enjoyed reading blogs from foreign countries, and that's where I came across some incredible threads.. and having seen so many stitchers using hand dyed fibers and their stitched projects, I realized I rather liked that version, compared to the one I got with classic Mouliné threads. That's why I began dying them on my own. When I was a kid I loved painting and drawing.. so this might have been in the air already I started hand dying 4 years ago and for the first two months I dyed threads just for myself.. then some friends began asking me a few skeins for their own projects, and this pushed me to take this path, further and further along.. As I saw friends, and their friends too, enjoy my fibers, I realized that's what I wanted to do! I simply love the process of dying, the creation of a specific colour tone, preparing the dyes, see them blend, .. that's what makes me happy! Picture how colourful my room gets every time I have "freshly dyed threads"!!

That's really an easy guess, Nina.. and another easy guess is what will happen when you will finally try adding a Nina's touch to your stitching projects.. you'll will fall in love with the incomparable creations you'll will achieve, experiencing the care which brought these delightful threads into your hands and stash!

Until next time
