Not only aida and linen

JobelanHi everybody there!
To the all of us who love stitching, the name Zweigart sounds more than famous and it has meant variety and quality for years and years!
Most of the fabrics used in the cross stitch kits we all know and recommended in the charts we're constantly tempted by are manufactured by this epoch-making, German brand, headquartered not far from Stuttgart, right at the heart of the region called Baden Württemberg.

The flax and aida from Zweigart are also hand dyed by a number of other well-known brands, which we carry the varied fabric cuts of, such in the instance of Polstitches.

However, in the huge range from Zweigart, you can also find some fabrics that are different from the highly widespread, above-mentioned ones though always perfect for stitching... They're actually so smoothly and regularly woven, to be grouped all together under a single, general name: "eveweave"

We stock four different kinds of these fabrics manufactured by Zweigart: the so-called Lugana, Bellana, Jazlyn and the Jubilee.

However, while the Jubilee is 100% cotton, Lugana, Bellana and Jazlyn shared a mixed composition, for they're woven with 52% cotton and 48% modal.
The so-called modal, contrary to what's often thought, is a natural material: a by-product of the pulp of trees, produced by reconstituting the same vegetal cellulose, which paper is also manufactured from. This makes it a fiber offering a high resistance to shape distortion and that's the reason why modal is widely used in the clothing industry and particularly in the sector hosiery, to prevent clothes from deforming. Thanks to their modal content, Lugana, Bellana and Jazlyn have proved to be highly stable and therefore ideal for the most complicated stitching projects, often requiring long periods to be completed
Moreover, the so-called Lugana, comes in different versions: both as 25ct and 28ct (and in this last instance it's called Brittney) and even as a 32ct fabric (called Murano) and therefore it guarantees 100% versatility in terms of stitches per centimeter, too, getting suitable for the most different kinds of cross stitch and needlwork.

But there's another fabric that has been famous among "needlework-addicted" for decades and share the same composition... It's called Jobelan.
Originally produced exclusively by Fabric Flair, the Jobelan is now marketed by the American company Wichelt, often using rayon instead of modal.
The so-called rayon, however, is a close relative of modal, since it's a synthetic polymer, but a by-product of vegetal cellulose, too! And that's why it stands out for the same advantages of its "cousin" Nevertheless, the so-called Jobelan, intrinsicly features a "softer" touch, in comparison to the above-mentioned Lugana, Bellana and Jazlyn for it was originally designed as a fabric for the table clothes and linens of hotels and restaurants.
This is why, if you're stitching a table cloth, this Jobelan is definitely the right option. But if your stitching project is meant to be framed and keep a certain "stiffness" through the years, you'd better go with a cut of Lugana, Bellana or Jazlyn

So, I hope everything is clearer now, in this "jungle" of creative names, beyond aida and flax
Hugs and hear from me soon!
