What is a SAL?

Date Added: 02/19/2010
Recently we have talked about the initiative called Stitch Your Heart Out, a SAL which will last one year.
The embroidery lovers would know what this word mean. It stands for Stitch-A-Long. The SAL is a real embroidery game which starts with the choice of the common chart that a group of embroiderers will create. Usually the choosen chart is communicated on a website or in a forum or by e-mail. Actually the SAL starts from and is developped within the web, since the participants can exchange pictures, pieces of advice and opinions just on websites or blogs. Once you have choosen the embroidery, the discussion starts -a thread as we call it on the web- on what threads it is better to use, which is the best fabric or which beads best suit the embroidery and so on...
In order to allow a continuous comparison of the works of each embroiderer of the group, the chart must be divided into parts and for each part a time should be set. And the end of each time set, the group meets on the web, through pictures, social-networks, e-mail, in order to compare the different works. Naturally, the most important part of the play is the final one. Often, at the end of the SAL, some ad hoc forums and blogs are created in order to insert a gellery of all the works.
Here are thus the game rules. Choose the chart and start your SAL!
