Winners at Abilmente

I've read somewhere that the famous sentence The most important thing is not to win but to take part! was not - as a lot of people believe (including me) - pronounced by the French pedagogist De Coubertin, but by an American bishop for the Olympic Games in 1908. Furthermore, this Church man had adopted these words from a text by a Greek phylosopher who had exactly said: The most important thing is not to win but to take part with a winning attitude!.

Now, since history is often chaotic and, unfortunately, not always 100% verifiable, even if I think this a nice anecdote, actually I do not want to focus your attention on this episode, but on the last words. All related to our last initiative: the contest we have organized for our second edition at Abilmente, in Vicenza, from the 20th to the 23rd of October 2011.

So, now we just have to talk a little bit more about the winning attitude I've mentioned above since, we are sure of it, a lot of you may be a little bit dubious about their participation, and some others may be asking themselves "Does it worth it? Will there be better embroiderers?" and similar questions… By the way, to compete there is only one sufficient thing - together with a kit, of course - the winning attitude which is simply the will to make something with love, but also with the right ratio of "desire to be in the limelight". Well, this competition does not only offer 500 euros but also the possibility (for everybody!) to see one's work showed, together with one's passion and the time one steals to everyday activities. For such a reason, other than - of course - for the hope of being the lucky winner, chosen by a jury of professional designers, you should take part to the competition! So, even if it is certain that 500 euros to spend in Casa Cenina are a very good prize, it is also true that the satisfaction of seeing one's work in a showroom, under the eyes of a lot of people like in a real gallery, has no price at all!
