The origins of Bellpull
The term Bell pull (or its other name bellpull) referred in the Victorian period to a little mechanism which allowed rich English ladies to call their maids. By pulling this little rope, a bell in the kitchen was rung so that the maids could come the fastest as possible to their masters.
Today, of this mechanism only the little rope is still visible! So here is the reason why this embroidered fabric has the shape of a hanging band on a bell. Moreover, with bellpull we mean also the particular hangings for your works realized on bands and rectangular pieces of fabric like the following metal bellpull or wooden bellpull.
