These scissors may arrive with a slightly more yellowish pink shade than expected, due to the very dry climate in Japan in 2026. The lacquer (urushi) used, in fact, naturally changes color with light and humidity, but at the moment the process is slower than usual. Once at home, the color will gradually develop into the characteristic “Sakura Pink” if exposed to natural light and kept in an environment with a normal level of humidity. In particularly dry environments, the process can be encouraged by placing the item near a source of humidity (e.g., in the bathroom after a shower), but strictly without any direct contact with water. This change is not a defect, but a normal and distinctive feature of this unique Japanese lacquer.
