"STITCHERS FOR CHILDREN": what is it?
Stitchers for Children is an International Charity program created by Casa Cenina with the special collaboration of designer Ellen Maurer Stroh. Stitchers for Children's goal is to make a sizeable monetary contribution to Save the Children.
ROUND ROBIN: what is it?
Round Robins are initiatives uniting several stitchers who will stitch their designs on the same canvas. A theme is chosen for the RR (commonly used abbreviation) and the canvas is sent from person to person, each adding her/his own piece on the same piece of fabric. In the end the canvas will have several designs made by all the participating people. A RR is a game, a commitment and a beautiful experience shared with other stitchers.
Our "Round Robin for the children": how does it work?
For this particular project our RR will be organized slightly differently. Each participant will stitch only one square of the design. All the stitched squares will then be collected and "assembled" to become part of several objects: pillows, quilted blankets, bed linens, which later will be auctioned off. The sum resulting from the sale will be donated to Save The Children. This is a game and an occasion to come in touch with stitchers from other countries: our heartfelt stitches for those who need them the most!
The Subject of our Embroidery
What is the subject of our cross stitching? Since these are items destined to be used by children what better subjects than the very popular Animal Babies by Ellen Maurer Stroh?
Unique and precious objects
The embroiderer's own hand stitching will give each piece a special touch of uniqueness, a kind of "signature". What will make the resulting objects even more precious will be an original and brand new design personally hand stitched by Ellen Maurer Stroh! The new design that Ellen will personally embroider will not be published nor be put on sale later but will remain a special exclusive for "Stitchers for Children".
The complete kit is offered absolutely free by Casa Cenina!!!
You understood well, the stitchers will not need to spend any money on charts, yarn or fabric (Aida 16ct. or white Jobelan 32ct.) because Casa Cenina will take care of sending everything for free to each participant!
The stitcher's commitment
if you wish to participate you don't have to be an expert embroiderer. All we need is your enthusiasm and your commitment to finish your piece by the set date. This commitment is very important: if one piece is missing or late the whole project will be late; assembly, auction, donation. Therefore your commitment to deliver it on time is absolutely fundamental! You'll have 60 days from the moment you receive the kit to complete the embroidery and ship it out.
OK! I want to partecipate!
The project has been thought for a limited number of participants, therefore participation is restricted to few lucky and committed cross stitchers. Enrollment will start on June 6 at 15:00 (3:00pm CEST) and will close at 24:00 (12 pm CEST) of the same day. It's a first come opportunity so set your clock and enroll as soon as registration opens!
Priority will be given to the first 100 people who will register to our project therefore if you are interested just access this page again on June 6 and click on the button below. (Please note that the number of actual participants will be fewer than 100 but we need more initial subscriptions to draw from to substitute for those who will cancel their participation).

Various steps and final auction
Once the enrollment closes all winning participants will be sent an e-mail confirming their participation in the project and the final dates for all the steps: shipment of kit, embroidered piece shipping deadline (approx beginning of September) and assembly of the pieces. After all these steps the Auction will take place (approx October 2007).
Throughout the duration of the project Casa Cenina coordinators will follow the process keeping the embroiderers in touch with each other and maintaining a dedicated page on our site open for updates and work progress news.
