25 g hank (unlabelled), about 180 m (197 yd), of Appleton Crewel Wool (2 ply), pure British wool dyed and spun in the UK: good value for larger projects.
It is the finer of Appleton's two wools (the company has been making yarn since 1835): ideal for Jacobean-style crewel embroidery and fine detail; several strands in the needle give fuller coverage, also on fine canvas, and two shades together create subtle blends. The colours are the same as in the thicker Tapestry Wool. The wool should not be washed: if needed, sponge it with cold water. Keep your work out of direct sunlight.
Hanks are not labelled: make a note of the colour number straight away.

Description

524 Turquoise is part of the Appleton Crewel Wool range, pure British wool in a 2-ply weight, dyed and spun in the UK. It is the finer of the two Appleton weights: suited to Jacobean crewel work, fine detail and needlepoint, and several strands can be used in the same needle to cover coarser canvas or to blend two shades. The 25 g hank, about 180 m (197 yd), is the economical option for large pieces and rugs.

Hanks come unlabelled, so note down the number 524 as soon as you open one. Below you will find the closest shades, useful for shading or for replacing a colour.
