It’s called Village Life and is inspired by the love of life in a small village, surrounded by farms, nature and people you know. In other words, it’s a little “ode” to the traditional Norwegian way of life, the homeland that Tone Finnanger loves so much. Don’t picture, though, the icy landscapes of fjords plunging dramatically into the freezing sea: this new collection is more about capturing a simple, welcoming way of life, translated into fabrics with a rustic, homely feel.
For each of the two seasons, the designer has created a distinctive colour palette. The Autumn one combines rust and ochre with greens and teal, evoking fallen leaves and crackling fires; the Winter palette features cooler, deeper shades of burgundy and blue. In both cases, Tone has opted for fairly saturated colours, giving the collection a crisp, lively look.
Of course, the traditional “blenders” are also part of the collection with their small-scale prints that pair beautifully with all the fabrics in the range; along with the real little gem of the collection: the “Village” fabric, featuring rows of colourful little houses that look as though they have stepped straight out of traditional Nordic fairy tales. It comes in rust, teal, burgundy and blue. And for those who can’t wait to start sewing, there are also charm packs and coordinating accessories.
