Pure, fine linen with a weight of 180 g/m², vat-dyed. This dyeing process uses water-insoluble dyes (the best-known example is the indigo used for denim), which cannot bind to the fibre in their original form. To dye the fabric, the dyes are chemically converted into a soluble form in an alkaline bath through a process called reduction. The fibres absorb the dye deeply, and when exposed to air or an oxidising agent, the dyes return to their insoluble form, becoming trapped within the fibres rather than remaining on the surface. This makes the colour highly resistant to washing, light and rubbing. Combined with its exceptional width of 273 cm, this makes it ideal for creating seamless tablecloths, curtains, bedspreads and sheets, as well as table runners, napkins, pillowcases and even garments. Resistant to tensile stress and abrasion, it is designed to last and is also perfectly suited to freehand embroidery. This is not a counted-thread linen.
The fabric shrinks by approximately 3% during the first wash, so we recommend pre-washing it before cutting and sewing.
The price is for a cut of 50 x 68 cm; larger cuts can be chosen on the page.
