A stitching man: Michael Powell

Cross-stitching is not only a women's world. Among the most famous embroidery artists there are two very talented artists with a real knack for stitching:
Parolin and Powell.
Michael Powell was our guest during the first
Festa del Ricamo in 2007, the year when Powell was nominated "Designer of the Year" by the famous publishing house "Origin Publishing". He won this award in 2008 and in 2009.

His creations are extremly original as it is evident in his two new
bookmarks among the new products of our catalog. As usual, the watercolors and the pencil drawings firstly inspire the charts by Michael. He usually loves landscapes, palaces and architecture, the passion he has inherited from his father who was an architect. Flowers and nature are instead the themes of these last creations: gems and hearts in little vases full of water.
In Cardiff, his city, Michael own a real gallery with all his masterpieces which are inspired by Wales. After being a professional hockey player, Michael graduated in Interior Design in Birmingham and then he worked in London, New York and again in Cardiff.
The embroidery job started by chance. During an exhibition of his pictures, a woman brought to Powell a kit she had realized from the "Street" by Michael. From that moment on, the designer and the embroiderer started their collaboration: a lot of kits and charts were born. Julia is now Michael's helper, the woman who transforms the colorful pictures by Powell into stitches.
