American cross-stitch by Silver Creek Samplers
Silver Creek Samplers is the brand established by Diane Grick in Montrose, Pennsylvania. Differently from the most of her "colleagues", designing cross stitch charts, she didn't learn stitching when she was just a child. She was actually a teen already, when she decided that the special congratulation card she had created for her sister's wedding, had to be a theme sampler. And that was the the very beginning of Diane's passion for counted cross stitch. Since then on, she's never given up floss and needles.
To be true, Diane didn't immediately focus - both in terms of artistic inspiration and business - on cross stitch, but she worked for 12 years as a graphic designer for a quilting magazine. It was only in time, that she realized how assembling quilting fabrics was not enough to express all her creativity. So, she started drawing cross stitch and needlework charts, inspired by those themes that have then become the typical subjects of her brand: faith, nature and family. All of them recur in her patters quite often, together with the distinctive mark of her letters' style. A different alphabet in each sampler makes it impossible to find the same letters from a chart to another one.
Pennsylvania landscapes can be found in the whole production from
Silver Creek Samplers, whose logo represents a young boy fishing: and fishing is definitely among the most popular hobbies, in this part of the USA. However, if Diane is asked what's the driving force behind her business, this is how she always answers: "I love my job". No matter if it's about cross stitch, quilting, decoupage or any other craft... Everything you create will be amazing only if you create it with passion
