Chenille Soie Ovale 4534

4534 is a beige from the Au Ver à Soie Velours silk chenille, the classic chenille: soft, even and velvety to the touch, like a piece of velvet. It is embroidered on canvas and fabric, and used in passementerie, weaving, knitting and by machine too. In 17th-century embroidery chenille depicted moss, trees and grass; in Victorian times it decorated quilts, garments and bags.

The chenille comes in the same colours as Soie d'Alger, with the same numbers, so it is easy to combine with Au Ver à Soie silks. Photographs do not always match the real colour: for an accurate match use a shade card.
