T95 is Sotema's buratto, also called "cencio": a pure linen fabric with a very open weave, where 6 threads per centimetre in each direction form a regular, clearly visible grid. It is the traditional ground for Punto Caterina de' Medici and Punto Deruta, Italian techniques in which the embroidery follows the grid of the weave, and it suits tablecloths, table centres and curtains.
The fabric comes already washed. Choose threads full enough to cover the open weave well, such as perlé cotton or twisted linen, and a blunt tapestry needle that slips between the threads without splitting them. Leave a generous margin around the design and oversew the edges before you start: with such an open weave they fray easily.
