A sepia-toned birth sampler: the baby sleeps in a hanging hammock surrounded by butterflies, and the centre panel is left free for the name, date and weight, stitched with the alphabet supplied in the instructions. It is worked in counted cross stitch on Aida, with a few long stitches for the finer details.
The small palette and the large-square chart make it easy going even with little experience of counted work; a hoop or frame is still useful and is not included. The frame shown in the photograph is not part of the kit: once finished, the embroidery can be framed or mounted on a padded board to hang in the nursery.
