Two bookmarks worked in counted cross stitch, with a few long stitches for the branches and finer details: a deer crossing a snowy path and a cat sitting in front of a full moon, both in shades of purple, lilac and blue. They are small, quick pieces, nice as a gift for a reader and manageable even with little stitching experience.
Everything you need is in the kit, ribbons included; you only need scissors and, if you like, a hoop. Once stitched, trim the fabric along the coloured border and attach the ribbon at the top; for a sturdier bookmark, glue a piece of card or felt to the back.
