A gentle-eyed alpaca peeps out from among orange marigolds, white daisies and blue buds, against a dark green ground that sets off the pale fleece. The design is worked by counting stitches on evenweave fabric: besides cross stitch you will add a few French knots for the flower centres and back stitch for the outlines, both explained in the instructions.
It is a fair-sized piece, but the chart is printed with large squares, so even the shading on the face is easy to follow. Everything is included except a frame and an embroidery hoop: mounting the fabric keeps the tension even. Once finished, the panel looks best framed as a picture.
