Two brightly coloured macaws perched on a branch surrounded by tropical foliage, worked as a large piece by knotting pre-cut yarn onto the canvas with a latch hook. The design is painted straight onto the canvas, so there is no chart to follow: you simply match the colours square by square.
The technique is simple and repetitive, easy enough for younger stitchers and relaxing to work on in front of the television. The extra yarn makes the suspension loops so the piece can hang as a wall hanging; the wooden rod shown in the photo is not included. It can also be used as a rug: once finished, just turn and secure the canvas edges.
