Two ready-made placemats, already hemmed, with the design printed straight onto the fabric: there is no counting involved, you simply embroider over the printed lines, which wash out afterwards. Only a handful of basic stitches are needed, so this is a good project for anyone who has done little surface embroidery and wants to try it.
The kit comes complete with threads, needle and illustrated instructions: all you need to add is a small pair of scissors and, if you like, a hoop to keep the fabric taut while you stitch. Once both mats are finished, a gentle wash and a press on the wrong side give you a table set ready to use or to give as a present.
