The design is printed straight onto the fabric, so there is no counting: you follow the printed lines together with the large-square chart, which shows which stitches to use. The printing ink washes out, leaving only the white embroidery on the red ground — a contrast that looks crisp on a Christmas table.
The runner is already hemmed and ready to use: only the embroidery needs doing. Working in a single thread colour keeps things straightforward even with little experience, although the length makes it a longer project. A hoop or frame helps keep the fabric even; once finished, a gentle wash and pressing on the reverse are all it needs.
