Squared Tablecloth - Garden equipment

A pure linen square tablecloth, already hemmed, to be embroidered around the border and in the corners with small gardening scenes: pots of herbs, watering cans, trellises and tools, in soft greens and rust tones that sit well against the natural linen.

The fabric comes ready-finished, so no sewing is needed once the stitching is done: simply wash it gently and press it on the wrong side. A frame or a hoop moved along as you go makes a piece this size easier to handle, and it helps to mark the centre with a line of tacking before you start. The long stitches are used for fine details such as tool handles.
