Description

Rustico-Aida keeps the clearly squared structure of Aida fabrics, with blocks that are easy to count at a glance, while the blend of viscose, cotton and linen gives it a softer handle and a slightly irregular, warm-toned surface. It works well for samplers, small framed pieces, cushions, pouches and little accessories with a country feel.

This is a fine Aida: one or two strands of stranded cotton over one block give a tidy result with a size 26 tapestry needle, while three strands provide fuller coverage. Mounting the fabric on a frame or hoop helps keep an even tension, and it is worth leaving a few centimetres of margin around the design for hems and finishing.
