Baby and Teddy

A soft-toned birth sampler: the baby sleeps curled up with a teddy bear, and the alphabet supplied lets you add the name, birth weight and date, as shown on the model. It is a classic gift for new parents and can be stitched in advance, leaving the details to be added last.

The work is counted cross stitch worked from a symbol chart; the even weave of the Aida makes the holes easy to find, so it also suits a first counted project. A hoop or frame and a small pair of embroidery scissors make stitching more comfortable. The frame is not included: the finished piece can be framed or made up into a cushion.
