Two placemats, already hemmed and ready to embroider: the dandelion design is printed straight onto the fabric, so there is no counting involved and you simply follow the printed lines. The print is water-soluble and disappears with the first wash, leaving only the stitching.
Only a handful of basic stitches are needed, which makes this a good project for fairly new embroiderers: french knots give texture to the seed heads, stem stitch draws the stalks. Apart from the kit you only need small scissors and, if you like working with one, a hoop, neither of which is included. Once finished, the mats can be washed and used on the table, or given as a pair with a bunch of wild flowers.
