The tablecloth comes ready-made and hemmed, with the design printed straight onto the cotton: there is no counting, you simply stitch over the printed butterflies. Cross stitch fills the wings, while stem stitch draws the antennae and the fine trails that link the motifs together.
The printing is water-soluble and washes out, so once the work is finished only the embroidery remains. It suits stitchers with little experience of counted work, though it does take some patience given the area to cover; an embroidery hoop is useful to keep the fabric taut. The glassware shown in the photo is not part of the product.
