Please note: natural fabrics such as linen and cotton are dyed in batches and come in different counts (with more or fewer threads per 1 cm in the case of linen and evenweaves, and more or fewer squares per 10 cm in the case of Aida). Different production batches and different counts may show color variations, even when the fabric is under the same color name. In the textile industry, this is considered completely normal, especially for so-called “vintage” or antiqued fabrics. Therefore, if your project requires a specific shade, we invite you to contact us before placing your order, also because the online image is purely indicative and may appear very different from reality, depending on the display which it is viewed on.

Before stitchingNo need to wash the fabric first: cotton is stable, shrinking no more than 1-1.5% at the first wash, and takes higher washing and ironing temperatures than linen
Washing, drying and ironingAfter stitching, if washing is needed: water never above 30 °C, mild soap for delicates, no rubbing so the threads do not bleed; rinse in plenty of cold water, remove excess water by rolling the fabric in a clean towel and pressing, never wringing; dry flat, in the shade. Iron on the wrong side with a folded soft towel under the embroidery so the stitches are not flattened

Description

Aida is a cotton fabric woven in blocks: the holes are clearly visible and each cross stitch is worked over one block, with no threads to count. This count is a step finer than 14 count Aida and just as easy to read, which helps with charts that carry a lot of detail. It works for pictures, samplers, ornaments, cards, cushions and towel bands.

Use two strands of stranded cotton for the crosses and one strand for back stitch and outlines, or a no. 8 perle cotton. A size 24 or 26 tapestry needle slips through the holes without piercing the weave. On dark colours, a light surface under the frame or a good lamp makes counting easier. Cut with a few centimetres to spare all round for finishing.

I am very satisfied of this quality of Aida, arrived very clean, a nice black alive, the plot very smooth and without much bending net from having to iron too much. It surprised me very rigidity of this Aida, at first glance I thought it was plastic! I'm used to work on fabrics and soft enough to have found a stiff cloth has made me very happy! I find it very easy to work because I just tend very little fabric (just enough to hold it while I work) and the spreaders are perfectly equal and uniform. I do not use the frame, but even if I used it I think it would not help me because the fabric is very tight! I am absolutely satisfied, so maybe they were all the fabrics! EXCELLENT PURCHASE! :)
