Fein-Aida is woven with clearly defined blocks and holes, so each cross stitch is worked over one square with no thread counting. It is one of the finer Aidas in the Zweigart range and suits designs with plenty of detail: miniatures, bookmarks, cards, small samplers, pincushions and panels to be made up into bags or ornaments.
One strand of stranded cotton is usually enough for cross stitch, two for fuller coverage, with a size 26 tapestry needle that slips through the holes without enlarging them. Cotton Aida needs no washing before stitching. Allow a margin of at least 5 cm all round for the hoop or frame and for finishing, and zig-zag or tape the edges to stop them fraying.
