A 100% linen, woven from the finest quality flax. It is an excellent fabric for cross stitching, hem stitching, drawn work & all types of counted thread work.
Cut of 50 × 70 cm; multiples of the basic cut can be chosen from the drop-down menu below the price.
Original Zweigart color: Raw Linen
Similar to DMC 3782 and Ecru.
Please note: natural fabrics such as linen and cotton are dyed in batches and come in different counts (with more or fewer threads per 1 cm in the case of linen and evenweaves, and more or fewer squares per 10 cm in the case of Aida). Different production batches and different counts may show color variations, even when the fabric is under the same color name. In the textile industry, this is considered completely normal, especially for so-called “vintage” or antiqued fabrics. Therefore, if your project requires a specific shade, we invite you to contact us before placing your order, also because the online image is purely indicative and may appear very different from reality, depending on the display which it is viewed on.

Before stitchingIt is best to wash linen before starting: all linens shrink by about 3% in the first wash. If the piece is only going to be framed, washing can be skipped. Apart from white and the natural shades (raw, flax), never go above 35 °C.
Washing after stitchingNever above 30 °C, with soap for delicates or Marseille soap, without rubbing so the threads do not bleed; rinse with plenty of cold water.
Drying and ironingRemove excess water by rolling the linen in a clean towel and pressing, never wringing; dry flat, in the shade, away from heat sources. Iron while still slightly damp, at a medium-hot setting (linen/cotton), always from the back, with a soft folded towel under the embroidery so the stitches are not flattened.

Description

Dublin is a medium-weight evenweave linen with the slightly uneven surface typical of the fibre. It stays supple and is easy to sew by hand, so it suits both framed pieces and work that will be hemmed: tablecloth and napkin borders, small bags, samplers, bibs and cushions.

Cross stitch is normally worked over two threads, with one or two strands of stranded cotton depending on the coverage wanted, and a size 24 or 26 tapestry needle. It also takes hemstitching, drawn thread work, Hardanger and freestyle stitches. Wash the cut before starting and leave a few centimetres of margin around the design for finishing.

I needed this linen for some Little House Needleworks designs. I have never used this particular linen before and I am absolutely delighted with it. It is beautifully soft and although it has slightly rustic look, it is still refined enough to look really good.

Linen quality. Has the texture smooth and wide enough, so I recommend to those novice with linen, or those who want to stitch on linen without your eyes getting tired.
