Before stitching	Washing the cut first is advisable, as the fabric tends to shrink on the first wash; lukewarm water, never above 35 °C. If the piece is only to be framed, washing can be skipped
Washing after stitching	Never above 30 °C, with a mild soap for delicates, without rubbing so the threads do not bleed; rinse in plenty of cold water
Drying and pressing	Remove excess water by rolling the fabric in a clean towel and pressing, never wringing; dry flat, in the shade, away from heat sources. Press while still slightly damp, at a medium setting, always from the back, with a folded soft towel under the embroidery

Description

Floba superfine is an evenweave fabric with a look very close to pure linen: the yarn has a slight irregularity that still shows through the stitching, the handle is soft and the needle passes through easily. The close weave suits small counted thread work – miniatures, samplers, borders for tablecloths and table centres, little bags, boxes and other pieces for the home.

Cross stitch is usually worked over two threads with one strand of stranded cotton and a size 26 tapestry needle; two strands give fuller coverage. The fabric also takes half cross stitch, blackwork and small areas of drawn thread work. Washing the cut before starting is advisable, and it helps to leave a few centimetres around the design for the frame and finishing.
