100% linen
Please note: natural fabrics such as linen and cotton are dyed in batches and come in different counts (with more or fewer threads per 1 cm in the case of linen and evenweaves, and more or fewer squares per 10 cm in the case of Aida). Different production batches and different counts may show color variations, even when the fabric is under the same color name. In the textile industry, this is considered completely normal, especially for so-called “vintage” or antiqued fabrics. Therefore, if your project requires a specific shade, we invite you to contact us before placing your order, also because the online image is purely indicative and may appear very different from reality, depending on the display which it is viewed on.

Before stitchingWashing the fabric first is recommended: every linen shrinks by about 3% on its first wash. On colours other than white and the natural (raw) shades keep below 35 °C. If the piece is only going to be framed, it can be stitched unwashed
Washing after stitchingNever above 30 °C, with a mild soap for delicates or Marseille soap, without rubbing so the threads do not bleed; rinse in plenty of cold water
Drying and ironingRemove excess water by rolling the linen in a clean towel and pressing, never wringing; dry flat, in the shade, away from heat sources. Iron while still slightly damp, at a medium-high (linen/cotton) setting, always from the back, with a soft folded towel under the embroidery so the stitches are not flattened

Description

Zweigart 3456 Linen Aida combines the blocked structure of Aida with the handle of pure linen: the weave forms clearly defined squares with a hole at each corner, so the needle is guided and counting stays easy on a slightly rustic ground. It is the finest fabric in the Linen-Aida range and suits small, detailed pieces: miniature samplers, biscornu, pincushions, bookmarks, borders for cushions, mats and pouches.

Work cross stitch over one square with one strand of stranded cotton and a size 26 tapestry needle; two strands give fuller coverage. As with any linen, wash the fabric before starting and leave a generous margin around the design for finishing and framing.
