An English country scene by Sally Swannell: the covered lych gate opening onto a topiary garden, a red brick wall, blossom overhead and a dog waiting on the path. It is worked in counted cross stitch from the chart, with back stitch outlines that sharpen the woodwork, the brickwork and the animals.
The stranded cottons come ready sorted on an organiser, so you can start stitching straight away. A frame is not included: the square format suits a mount and frame, though the finished piece also works as a panel or a cushion front. A hoop or frame and small embroidery scissors are useful while you stitch.
