Celtic Poppies

A rosette design with eight pink poppies arranged around a knot of leaves and ribbons in Celtic style. The motif is highly symmetrical, so it is satisfying to stitch: the repeats soon become familiar. Alongside the cross stitch there is back stitch for the outlines, a few French knots for the stamens and the black and white beads, which are sewn on at the end.

The threads come ready sorted on an organiser, so there is no hunting for shade numbers. You will also need a hoop or frame and a small pair of embroidery scissors; the frame shown is not included. The square finished piece works well framed or made up into a cushion front.
