The «Seaweed» design comes from Henry Dearle's artwork for Morris & Co.: curling leaves and tendrils over a dark ground, scattered with blue flowers and small pink buds. It is worked in half cross stitch over a canvas already printed in full colour, so there is no counting, using Appletons wools that build up a dense, hard-wearing surface.
The open 12 count mesh keeps a piece of this size moving along quickly. To make it up as a cushion you will also need backing fabric, a pad and any piping, none of which are included: Bothy Threads sell velvet backing kits separately. The stitched panel can also be framed or mounted on a stool top.
