A Walter Crane design, with two swans facing one another among rushes and irises, worked in tapestry stitch over a canvas that is already printed in full colour: you follow the design under the needle with no counting, and the wool gives good coverage even if you are fairly new to needlepoint. The stitch diagram covers the stitches used, including the two French knots for the eyes.
Interlock canvas is firm enough to work in the hand, though a scroll frame helps keep an even tension. Cushion backing, pad and finishing materials are not included: Bothy Threads offers a square gold backing kit separately, or the panel can be made up by an upholsterer or framed as a picture.
