A fishing harbour with the lighthouse on the headland, boats at their moorings, gulls overhead and water shifting from deep blue to pale shallows: a British coastal scene taken from a Becky Bettesworth painting. The outlines are already printed on the canvas, and the chart shows where each shade of wool goes.
Long stitch is worked in straight vertical stitches of varying length that follow the shapes of the design: it covers the canvas quickly and gives the banded effect that suits sky and waves so well. Wools, needle and instructions are all in the box; a scroll frame makes the work easier, and a frame for the finished piece is chosen separately.
