A little mouse reaching up to a decorated cupcake, with a red heart on top and 'Happy Birthday' worked in gold: a birthday card to stitch and then post or hand over yourself. It is counted cross stitch on Aida, with a little back stitch for the outlines, one French knot and a few beads for the sprinkles.
The tri-fold card is ready to use: the finished stitching slips behind the window and the inner flap closes over it, so no framing or mounting is needed. All you need to add is a pair of small scissors and, if you like working on taut fabric, a small hoop. Being a small design, it stitches up in a few evenings.
