A thatched cottage looking out over a spring garden: yellow tulips, purple and white crocuses, blossoming branches and a few birds in the sky. It is the first of the four pictures in the '4 Seasons' series, designed to be stitched and hung together.
The design is worked in counted cross stitch on Aida, following a chart printed with large squares, with a little back stitch to outline the gate and the house. There are plenty of colours but the blocks are generous, so the project suits stitchers with limited experience too. You will also need a hoop or frame, and the frame shown in the photo is not included: the square format works well as a small picture or a cushion.
