Two bookmarks to work in counted cross stitch on Aida, with teddy bears hanging on the washing line as if freshly laundered. The long, narrow format stitches up quickly in odd moments and makes a good introduction to counted work, or a new-baby gift to slip into a book.
The design is worked from the chart, usually with two strands of stranded cotton on Aida; the fringed edges are made simply by pulling away the outer threads, or you can back each bookmark with felt or ribbon for a sturdier finish. A pair of embroidery scissors and, if you like, a small hoop are handy extras.
