Two flower bookmarks to work in counted cross stitch on Aida: daffodils on one, tulips on the other, with the shading of the petals built up through colour changes and the outlines gone over in back stitch. They are small pieces that stitch up quickly and make a welcome gift for a reader.
The kit holds all the stitching materials, but the finishing is up to you: the edges can be fringed as in the photo, or backed with felt or ribbon glued to the reverse. A small hoop and a pair of embroidery scissors make the work easier. The large-square chart is kind to the eyes and helps less experienced stitchers keep their place in the count.
