Pansies in heart shape

A bunch of pansies in shades of pink, lilac and yellow, gathered into a heart on a pale ground: a classic floral design that also works well as a gift for an anniversary or a wedding. It is worked in counted cross stitch from the chart, with outlines and flower details finished in backstitch.

The twenty-six shades and the blended petals call for some care when changing threads, so this is a project better suited to stitchers with a little experience. A hoop or frame and a sharp pair of embroidery scissors make the work easier; the picture frame is not included. Once finished, the piece can be framed or made up into a cushion.
