Runner - Little hedgehog with ferns

A little hedgehog surrounded by mushrooms, acorns and ferns decorates one end of the runner, shown here in a dark grey shade with a woven openwork border. The design is printed straight onto the fabric, so you stitch over the printed colours without counting, and the print washes out when the work is finished.

Alongside cross stitch you will use french knots and stem stitch for the finer details, which makes it a good project if you have stitched before. The runner comes ready hemmed: once the embroidery is done, a wash and a press on the wrong side are all it needs before it goes on the table or a sideboard. An embroidery hoop or frame makes the work easier.
